Apple has been very strict in keeping torrent apps away from the app store as they lead to transfer of pirated content. But now, Apple’s app store has a BitTorrent application called IS Drive, for iPod touch, iPhone and iPad.
IS Drive is an application for sharing legit data using ImageShack service. The app can be modified to use other BitTorrent services that share internet piracy data. The inclusion of a BitTorrent app in the app store may be due to the new eased up approval process by Apple. Another possibility is that Apple is not aware that IS Drive is a BitTorrent app.
IS Drive developer says, ”I always had the thought that if I didn’t call the app a ‘torrent client’, apple would probably let it through the review process”. The app does not use the word ‘torrent’ or ‘BitTorrent’ and calls itself a ‘download manager’.
IS Drive app is available from the app store for $4.99 excluding the charges for ImageShack sharing service.
